Redcap, Scouting Variant

Not every lantern in the Blood Grove belongs to a traveller.

The Redcap Scout moves through the darkness with a lantern held before it, searching the forest paths for signs of those who have wandered into the territory of its kin.

From a distance, the light may appear comforting. A sign of safety. A guide leading the way home.

But those who follow it soon discover the truth; the Scout is not guiding travellers out of the forest. It is leading the Redcaps to them...

Armed with a large blade at its side, the Scout serves as the eyes of the hunting pack, searching for movement and signalling when the time has come to begin the hunt.

The Redcap Scout is ideal for creating atmospheric encounters where the threat is revealed slowly, making it a perfect addition to dark fairytale campaigns, eerie wilderness adventures and folklore-inspired RPG settings.
