The CA 02 Nossag (lit. “barrage”) is a contrast to the smaller Sutroq which shares its designation of “attack cruiser.” In truth, the Nossag is much closer in both size and performance to a traditional battleship. The Nossag notably lacks the sleeker lines of many of its contemporary vessels, with a relatively short and small set of GV coils and an elongated body.

Two VN001820 engines give it barely half of the Sutroq’s acceleration at 8.2mc, and only 84 MEUs of manoeuvrability. But the Nossag has little need to chase targets down. The shortened GV coils do support a spinal beam, but a smaller one, with only a 2751TXq peak output, with an accuracy envelope of about 300 000 km.

Instead, the bulk of the Nossag is devoted to no less than forty-six XF-4 railgun emplacements, supplemented with 14 XF-1 interdiction railgun batteries. These batteries dot the surface like pustules, providing interlocking coverage across the ship. The anti-capital ship XF-4s provide an estimated combined output of 3750TXq output to any one aspect, and the XF-1s over 3000TXq, making the Nossag dangerous to approach with its otherwise obvious fighter counter.

The Nossag thus typically sits at a distance with its escorts, firing for effect with the railguns and picking apart ships to be finished by the close-range engagement squadrons.

The Nossag’s shields are rated to 4800TXq, but the armour belt is relatively thin, only being around 3100TXq, slightly less than the Sutroq. However, as the Nossag is typically fighting from longer ranges, it is generally less exposed to fire.

While popular culture tends to focus on the more aesthetic Qyax vessels, the Nossag is arguably the true workhorse (or, perhaps more appropriately, the worktayati) of the Qyax fleet.
