Developed in tandem, the CD 01 Taalobrox and CC 01 Ky Gor Fraa are almost visually indistinguishable. The two vessels nevertheless serve two distinct, if related, roles. The Taalobrox (lit. “knockout”) is a light carrier and the Ky Gor Free (lit. “space warrior barge”) is a dedicated troopship, specialising in ship-to-ship boarding operations, as eveidenced by its monkor of “capture cruiser.”
Both vessels have largely identical performance. A pair of VN001595 engines provide an acceleration of 8.1mc and a solid, but uninspired agility, of 92 MEUs. The hull armour is estimated to have an AIC of 1020TXq, covered by 2400TXq-rated shields. There are ten weapons turrets: six XF-1 railgun interdiction turrets and four point-defences lazer turrets.
From here, the differences are largely lcoated in the hangar bay on each side. The Taalobrox carries a full squadron of fighters in each hangar. Observed vessels typically carry one squadron each of FS 12 Sosoks and DL(D) 04 Volks. The Taalobrox has been sighted accomapnying carrier groups or small detechments, but really on its own.
Not so the Ky Gor Fraa. The Capture Cruiser seems to be deployed predomiantly over the Xygritt border, and accompanied often with a pack of DL(D) 03 Kehtts and often a Yr Rost Disruption Cruiser. These smaller strikes groups are often involved in the small but steady stream of refugees fleeing Xygritt space, both in preventing reprisals and helped to catpure defecting craft that are not entirely un refugee control.
To this end, half of what is the main hangar on the Taalobrox has been given over to troop quarters, predominatly infantry, often boarding specialists. The front half of each hanger half trypically houses three AL 01 Zoth Light Assault Ships, which ferry the troops to their targets and assist the Kehtt’s in disabling the vessels.
It is believed that the small numberof Ky Gor Fraa’s definitely indentified in larger Qyax fleets are likely being used in a standard troopship role.
