From the depths of the trench rise foul gurgling sounds, shrouded in a noxious mist. The shapeless mass rises with colossal heaviness, advancing towards us. Its flesh seems to undulate in a sickly wave, whilst swollen bubbles burst, revealing hideous appendages. I cannot say whether it absorbs or expels the bodies from which this horror sprang.
