"The Djinn is a powerful air elemental, capable of calling upt he power to grant wishes. This ability was bestowed on to him by the ancient deities inhabiting the elemental planes. It was imprisoned by its creators inside a golden lamp, from which it can get out only when someone touches the object - a treatment aimed at easy control over a creature endowed with such powerful magic. By a twist of fate, the lamp was taken from the planes of the elements and brought to the material plane, into the hands of mortals who are easily obsessed by such a power."
