Chewa Medics
Among the Chewa, the art of healing is divided between two callings — the calm precision of battlefield surgery and the solemn weight of ancient rites. Male medics are battle-hardened surgeons: cold-blooded, steady-handed, unshaken by chaos. They move through gunfire with quiet focus, stitching life back into broken bodies with the same discipline that guides a soldier’s aim.
Women of the order carry a different legacy. They are keepers of old traditions that walk beside Christian faith — half-priestess, half-healer, wholly unwavering. Their golden masks, crowned with feathers, hide expressions of mercy and judgment alike. In one hand they bear a medic’s blade; in the other, a lantern whose pale glow guides the souls of those beyond saving. When they kneel beside the dying, even hardened soldiers fall silent, unsure whether they witness healing — or a final blessing.
