Description
Mistress of a Sinister Voice is ancient, as old as many planets. She is remembered not by chronicles but by scars in reality, in the places where her note once sounded and the world became something else. Her voice does not decorate music. It rewrites the nature of things. Metal begins to rot, glass remembers it is sand, flesh forgets whom it belongs to. She drains souls the way air is pulled from a breached compartment, and she bends will so gently that a victim mistakes чужая thought for their own desire. Her magic turns sound into physical force. Her voice becomes pressure and impact, and she hovers above the ground as if the air itself has become obedient stage machinery.
Long ago, she stood at the microphone of The Dirgeweavers. The first scream, the first chorus, the first crowd that left the concert no longer a crowd but a herd. But she stepped away from the front and became their shadow manager. Not from weariness, but from caution. Too many eyes means too many hunters, and in the dark there are those you do not taunt even with a whisper. She fears the darker demonic servants, ancient and hungry, and so she keeps to the wings, steering the band so her name is not spoken one time too many.
The Dirgeweavers do not arrive like an army. They arrive like a funeral march you hear before you understand that it is already too late. They are an ancient band of spacefaring musicians for whom the stage is an altar and the concert is a harvest. Their home is a splintered meteor, a refuge for renegades, heretics, and creatures of every kind. In its cracks live slave markets and workshops where instruments are made from flesh and loyalty is made from fear. From here they launch their raids, and after their performances stations wake with no memory and no future.
Inside the band, each member serves the rite. Morrow Kain strikes living drums of bone and skin, and pain crawls through the hall along with the beat. Riven Grist keeps everyone on one frequency with repeating lines, a chain that grinds selves into a shared hunger. Vexa Vhal, once a cabal mistress and raider, learns to conquer not with weapons but with attention, and more and more often she tastes the crowd by cutting in where she is not meant to. Seraphyne Sable Hymn remains the center. A fanatic of music and a strategist of notes, forever young through a demonic bargain, she collects souls with her songs like tribute for the right to breathe.
Now enchanting demonic dancers have appeared near the meteor. Too quiet, too beautiful, too close. This is a hunt, and it is a challenge. And when The Dirgeweavers reach for an old debt, Mistress of a Sinister Voice answers not with words but with a vibration that runs through the walls of their lair. She aids them in exchange for souls and living stock, because against those who enslave through movement you need a force that can tear enchantment apart with sound. While she listens, they are allowed to play. When she falls silent, their music will become their own sentence.
