The Ylurax is a dedicated missile platform, with none of the Dorux Sraaol’s noncombat or generalist focus. The Ylurax has only three missile launchers, each capable of firing bursts of three missiles, and their attended magazines are half the size of the Attack Battleships. The Ylurax does not have any secondary weapons aside from six point-defence lazer batteries.\r
\r
The Ylurax still carries a similar range of missiles to the Dorux Sraaol. 27 ITO-22 Ioulee long-range missiles provide the Ylurax with an opening set of salvoes for extreme range. Closer in, the 189 VTO-78 Skeelope missiles take over. With a yield of 205TXq and an accuracy envelope of 600 000km, these are comparable to other elenthnar and human missile warheads. Against low-agility targets or to swamp enemy point defence, the Ylurax can use its 378 BOR-56 Durnele semi-guided rockets.\r
\r
189 UTO-52 Galff point-defence missiles allow the Ylurax to engage in anti-fighter operations or supplement its own point defence. \r
\r
Finally, the Ylurax carries 9 FG8081 Decoy Projection Units and 18 probes.\r
\r
For a cruiser, the Ylurax is heavily protected. The shield grid is rated to 2400TXq. Illustrating the Qyax preference for shields over armour. By contrast, armour belt only qualifies an AIC of 550TXq. As a concession to the expectation the Ylurax will do most of its fighting at range, it carries a point-ECM system to impede missile attack.\r
\r
The Ylurax uses the same VN001785 engines as the Skaark, and in a similar configuration. The Ylurax is a little heavier, however, and resulting performance is a little worse than the Skaark’s: an acceleration of 14.3mc and only 185 MEUs comparted to the Skaark’s 14.5mc and 195 MEUs. Nevertheless, this gives the Ylurax an additional layer of protection as this is well above average for most typical vessels of its size and class.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0299/7711/6804/files/CM_2001_20Ylurax_20Missile_20Cruiser_20coverOG.jpg?v=1778598997
