The flow of refugees from Xygritt Matriarchy space has been sufficiently long-term and steady as to warrant special focus from the Star-Naval Defence Fleet.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe CM 04 Yr Rost (lit. “impact”) Disruption Cruiser is thus pivotal to Qyax doctrine. The requirement for the most widely-spread deployment of spacial disruption generators required the Qyax to place them onto a smaller, mobile frame. The Qyax often use imbedded agents – who are frequently digital intelligences – to commandeer the civilian or at least public transports that the refugees can most easily reach to escape. The Qyax then can use their spacial disruption generators to precise capture ships out of mid-GV transit to extract the refugees.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe Yr Rost carries three spacial disruption generators. Unusually, these are fully omnidirectional. Power requirements typically require the area of effect for a gravity-well generator or spacial disruption generator to be focussed into a cone, rather than a sphere. For example, the Xyriat’s much more powerful BDG01 Vydrosa Disruptor Battleship has only a limited cone in which it operate its field, and the field must be rotated, something that is slow and cumbersome. The standard practise, then, is to use more precise jamming, focussed on a smaller collection of targets (often, a single priority target).\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe Yr Rost’s wider field allows it to capture vessels in a broader net. With less concern about the movement of enemy vessels, it is well-suited to catching groups of dispersed light craft, such as those used by the refugees – and the ships the Xygritts often send after them. \r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe cost, however, is enormous, requiring outsized and expensive power cores. The Yr Rost, then, has four – its own regular power core and three additional cores, one for each generator.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe Yr Rost also needs to be relatively fleet. Since active g-well or spacial disruption generators both impede manoeuvring, many vessels of its operational class tend to be slow. But the Yr Rost is not. Its four Voolot-Nhoor VN001900 engines give it a 190 MEU-rated manoeuvrability, and a surprisingly good acceleration of 16.2mc. While the generators are running, however, these values drop dramatically, down to mere 91 MEUs and 7.8mc.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThe Yr Rost’s job by necessity makes it a priority target, and for this reason it has very heavy shielding, rating to 2800TXq, more than twice that of a typical heavy cruiser of its size and mass. Below this, it has an armour belt rated to an AIC of 1000TXq, comparatively heavy for a Qyax vessel.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eThis unsurprisingly doesn’t leave a lot of mass for anything else. A quartet of XF-2 anti-capital railguns provide some limited self-defence, backed-up by four point-defence lazer batteries. The crew facilities are also sparse and limited. The proportion of the crew on a Yr Rost that are digital intelligences is highest in the fleet , short of the actual drone craft.
